Born on May 20, 1992, in San Pedro La Laguna, Sololá, Guatemala, Manuel Navichoc is an artist trained at the National School of Plastic Arts “Rafael Rodríguez Padilla,” where he graduated as a Fine Arts Specialist in 2011. He continued his academic formation at the Higher School of Art of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, completing the coursework for a bachelor’s degree in art in 2016. He has shared his professional experience as a lecturer at ENAP and, since 2018, has served as an instructor at the Escuela Integral de Arte (EIA) in Guatemala City.Throughout his career, Navichoc has participated in over 90 solo and group exhibitions between 2007 and 2025. Recent highlights include Around the Fire at the Ixchel Museum (2025); Shared Roots, organized by the Honduran Institute of Inter-American Culture at the Museum for National Identity in Tegucigalpa, Honduras (2025); and his participation in the virtual group exhibition All That Calls to Us presented by Galería GRID in Panama (2021). He has also been an active contributor to collective exhibitions such as JUNKABAL (2018–2025), From Art to the Child by Funsilec (2016–2021), Moments by the Santo Domingo Board of Trustees (2015–2025), Raw Talent (2018), and the Art in May festival organized by Fundación Rozas Botrán (2013–2025).His work has received numerous distinctions, including the Grand Prize at Art in May (2024), recognition as Artist of the Year by the Alejandro Von Humboldt Institute of Culture and the Mexican Culture Seminar (2023), and several honorable mentions at Art in May (2022–2023). He was also a finalist at the same festival (2020), received second place at Raw Talent (2018), first place at Asturias in Everything, Everything, Everything… during the 12th June Festival (2016), and first place at Transmutations by USAC (2012), as well as early recognitions such as finalist at Morfo.10 (2010) and the Youth Award at The Earth and Us by Helvetas (2008).
